The Next Step to Success programs are made up of 2 core and 2 additional modules:
Module 1: is the main Enhanced Student Performance (ESP) program. This has been created with the high school student in mind, and is also be very useful for the student at college or university. Module 2: is Goals Strategies & Actions (GSA) program. A practical approach about creating the students future, where three main goals are considered. Module 3: adds an extra dimension for Third Culture Kids (TCK) who are usually expat students, who may be returning to a 'home' they barely know, or heading off to university or college. Module 4: Brings in the outdoor activites at the Telunas Retreat.
If your school would like to arrange for its own in-house workshop or if you would like more information, please get in contact.
1. Enhanced Student Performance (ESP)
Nearly all professional athletes use breathing and visualization techniques as a normal part of training. Similar concepts can be utilized to assist the student to reinforce their future goals and objectives, to study with more efficiency and then to enter the exam room, relax and recall with less stress. Also, students will receive a CD of techniques learnt during the week to use at home. These techniques are to enhance and reinforce the concepts being taught and learnt at school.
2. Goals Strategies & Actions (GSA)
Having clear and specific goals allows us to get into action easier. Students will be asked to broaden their outlook and set goals in three different areas of their life, such as education & career, recreation & leisure, and relationships & support systems. These will be goals worth going for - inspiring and at the same time, measurable and achievable. Students will consolidate what they know and then consider what's 'in the gap' for them. From this, they will go on to develop the next steps to get into action.
3. An Introduction to the Third Culture Kid. (TCK)
TCKs are students growing up in a culture different from their parents'. The blend of their host culture and their parents' culture creates this hybrid culture referred to as the 'Third Culture'. TCKs have wonderful assets that they carry with them their whole lives, but they also face unique challenges that are especially evident when returning to their 'home' culture for college or university. We will explore how to leverage these challenges to reduce re-entry stress and maximize the assets to build opportunities for success.
4. Outdoor Activities.
At the Telunas Retreat, time has been allocated for the students to have some fun outside and get involved in physical activities. Some activities will enable them to have time to themselves, while some will involve playing as a team. As well, the high ropes course will be a practical way for the students to put into place techniques learnt during the sessions. While none of the activities are compulsory, the students will be encouraged to be actively involved. For more information, please visit the activities page.
